1.a. Setup your LinkedIn headline for success

The secret of the TouchPoint success is in your LinkedIn headline.

How to make a good linkedin profile

Write a 90-character advertisement about yourself or your company.

  • Include a compelling line that will attract your audience’s attention
    • What do you uniquely offer? (example: “Fastest tools for lead generation“)
    • What would jolt your audience with surprise? (example: “5 confirmed appointments a day. Guaranteed“)
    • What experience do you have?  (example: “25 years in Industry. Extensive database of candidates.“)
  • Include a call to action
    • Be specific. Ask for them to open your profile. Ask for a call. Ask for a connection request. Or ask them to email you.

For recruiters, here are some effective LinkedIn Headlines that we found other recruiters using.

For sales and marketing, here are some effective LinkedIn Headlines we have found others using.

1.b. Make sure your profile has visibility (Normal Account)

LinkedIn has a set of privacy settings that most people are not familiar with. If you are not careful with these, NO ONE will see your profile. Read these carefully and make sure your LinkedIn settings are correct.

Here’s how to change your LinkedIn profile visibility.

1.c. Make sure your Sales Navigator profile has visibility

If you are using Sales Navigator, you have to change the Visibility settings inside your Sales Navigator account as well.

1.d. Activate a LinkedIn premium account

Without a LinkedIn Premium account, you will be able to see only 3 profiles per search. To make sure TouchPoint can advertise to hundreds of prospects, upgrade your LinkedIn account to a Business Premium, or LinkedIn Recruiter, or Sales Navigator account. Here is the LinkedIn subscriptions page.

1.e. Up your LinkedIn Profile Score

When you “Edit your Profile”, LinkedIn shows you suggestions on what you should add to your profile. Follow those suggestions to make a powerful profile.

2.  When to schedule campaigns?

Campaigns are best scheduled in the mornings, 6am-9am of your audience’s timezone.

The reason is, when they log-in to their LinkedIn in the morning, they will see your photo in their Who’s Viewed My Profile List. They will see your advertisement, and if interested, they will take action.

If your audience does not have LinkedIn premium accounts, it is even more imperative that you schedule campaigns in the morning. That’s because non-LinkedIn premium account holders see only 4 people in their Who’s Viewed My Profile page…. and you want to be in that top 4.

Another good time to run campaigns is Sunday night and Monday morning.

Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings are typically not the best times to setup campaigns.

2. a. Make sure your desktop does not sleep / hibernate

TouchPoint is an application running on your desktop / laptop. And just like all other applications, TouchPoint cannot run if your PC is in sleep mode / hibernate mode, or is switched off.

Go to the Power Options in your desktop or laptop and make sure that your PC has not been set to sleep / hibernate after a period of inactivity. If your PC goes to sleep / hibernate, TouchPoint will not be able to run.

Here is how to change the Power Options in your PC.

2. b. Is your laptop powered?

If you are running TouchPoint on a laptop, make sure that your laptop is connected to a power source. That’s because if your laptop runs out of power and switches off, TouchPoint cannot run its campaign. TouchPoint runs on your laptop operating system. TouchPoint does not run on the cloud.

3. Set up TouchPoint for 20k to 25k visits

When you set a profile view for the first time you have to schedule 20,000 to 25,000 profile visits. This gives you a big enough campaign list to work with and cycle through every month.
This process is actually easier than it looks. All you have to do is set up a few LinkedIn group searches.
Do a LinkedIn search and pick up the group which you think has the people you want to speak to. Keep the visit profile button and create a campaign which has this group as the target point and this campaign to a recurring playlist.
Doing so will get you a constant stream of prospect visitors.

The also means you didn’t have to manage your TouchPoint on a day-to-day basis.

3.a. Gradually ramp up your TouchPoint activity

If you have been a moderate to low frequency user of LinkedIn, it’s not advisable to immediately jump to 800 target profiles a day.

You should start with 200 a day and keep that for a week. Then bump it up by 150-200 each week till you reach your target number

3.b  Setup your daily email report

This is a super-useful feature. You get an email delivered to your inbox everyday showing trends of visit-backs, which campaigns ran and who exactly visited back recently. A sample report looks like this.

To set this up, click the menu item shown in the image below. You will be shown a window where you can enter the email address(es) you want the report delivered to.

3.c  Never access your LinkedIn account when TouchPoint campaigns are running

Doing so will cause LinkedIn to log you out of all your sessions. You may also face a 24-hour or longer lockout from your LinkedIn account.

As a Best Practice, setup TouchPoint to run campaigns when you are asleep, or in that part of the day / night when you will never access LinkedIn.
